We will miss you, Linda Kraft: A Most Excellent Silverwood Heights Volunteer and Friend

Some sad news in the community. Linda Kraft, a dedicated volunteer and friend, passed away on Friday, April 22nd at 10:30AM. There is a memorial planned for her. More details will be posted here as they arrive. A message from the President:

A pessimist, they say, sees a glass of water as being half empty;an optimist sees the same glass as half full. But a giving person sees a glass of water and starts looking for someone who might be thirsty.

- G. Donald Gale

A few words on my own sentiment summarized by GBS:

I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no 'brief candle' to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on the future generations George Bernard Shaw

It is in this spirit I remember Linda, when I first saw a need to help in my community and "give back". Linda was part of the SHCA executive helping us, though she had no children of her own. Keith Briant, our past president, Om Kochar, and I were lucky to share a few cheerful moments with Linda very recently, but felt that her "time" was near. Linda did a lot of great work for the community including spray park work, play structure work and many fundraisers and party organizing. Linda battled with cancer for the past 3 years and is a testament to bravery and courage. We will miss you Linda and all that you did for Silverwood. Good bye and God Bless you and your continuing journey.

Cheers to all of you,

Andrew
